Rev. J. DeVonn Horton serves as the Associate Pastor of Parkview Baptist Church. A native of Tatum, Texas, Rev. Horton was raised as a preacher’s son, developing an early foundation of faith, family, service, and commitment to God.
Following his graduation from Tatum High School, Rev. Horton proudly served more than 10 years in the United States Navy, where he distinguished himself through leadership, dedication, and excellence. After completing his military service, he returned to East Texas and earned an Associate Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Kilgore College. He is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at Tyler.
Rev. Horton answered God’s call to the preaching ministry in January 2010 under the leadership of his father, Superintendent James F. Horton. Throughout his ministry journey, he has served in numerous capacities, including Deacon, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Minister of Music, Associate Minister, and pastoral leadership. These experiences have strengthened his passion for preaching the Gospel, serving God’s people, and helping others discover their God-given purpose.
Rev. Horton is the proud father of his daughter, Jaycee Marie Horton, whom he considers one of God’s greatest blessings in his life.
As Assistant Pastor of Parkview Baptist Church, Rev. Horton brings a servant’s heart, a wealth of leadership experience, and a sincere love for people to the ministry. His desire remains simple: to serve God, love people, impact lives, and leave every person he encounters better than he found them.
